The event "Kymenlaakso: competitiveness, security, and resilience in healthcare" brings together key decision-makers, experts, and business representatives from the region to discuss the region's resilience, competitiveness and the safeguarding of welfare services in a changing operating environment. The panel discussions will examine the strengths, development trends and solutions to future challenges in Kymenlaakso. At the same time, the EU's development trends in terms of the economy and security will be considered, as well as how the EU can further strengthen the competitiveness and security of Kymenlaakso.

Panel 1: Kymenlaakso's competitiveness and security

The first panel will delve into how Kymenlaakso can strengthen its vitality and sustainability from the perspectives of the economy, security, and regional cooperation. Panel 2: Resilience of healthcare: challenges for organising healthcare in an ageing and shrinking population

The second panel will address a major challenge for welfare regions: how to ensure high-quality and equitable health services in a situation where the population is aging and resources are becoming scarce? The discussion will seek solutions from the perspectives of service accessibility, adequate staffing, and structural reform, including what support EU-level measures could provide.
