ECR Group hosts workshop on cross-border cooperation

The ECR Group in the CoR hosted its annual workshop in the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) with this year’s edition dedicated to "Reinforcing Cross-Border Cooperation in an Evolving Cohesion Policy Landscape". The event was opened by the ECR 1st Vice-President, Władysław Ortyl. The panel was composed of ECR members Pavel Branda (President of the European Cross-border Platform) and Matteo Bianchi (CoR rapporteur on the EU-Switzerland relations), as well as Kristoffer Storm, ECR Group MEP, Nikoletta Horváth, Head of Department responsible for Managing Interreg Programmes, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hungary, and Simona Pohlová Deputy Head of Unit for Interreg, Cross-border Cooperation, Internal Borders, DG REGIO, European Commission.

Eastern European regions bordering Ukraine excluded, warns ECR first VP Władysław Ortyl

This summer, the European Commission announced the upcoming "Pact for the Eastern Border Regions," an initiative aimed at transforming the EU's Eastern border regions bordering Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine into more resilient, competitive, and secure territories. However, the Commission’s proposal for the National and Regional Partnership Plans Fund ringfenced resources only for European Eastern border regions bordering Russia and Belarus, excluding those regions bordering Ukraine.

"The future of the automotive sector lies not in building low-cost mini-electric cars, but rather in stopping the absurd ban on combustion engine vehicles by 2035 to preserve Europe’s freedom and technological sovereignty". ECR Vice-President Juraj Droba will lead CoR work on the Commission's 80 billion euro infrastructure programme

ECR Vice-President Juraj Droba has been appointed rapporteur of the opinion on the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme for the 2028-2034 period. The plan is part of the next Multiannual Financial Framework proposed by the European Commission last July.
