"Local and regional authorities across Europe should promote the fight against prejudice and antisemitism. We should all commit to create a more inclusive and safe future for Jewish communities in the European Union" declared Ádám Karácsony during the adoption of his CoR opinion on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life (2021-2030) at the April SEDEC Commission meeting of the Committee of the Regions.
During the debate, Mr Karácsony (Vice-President of the County Council of Pest Megye, Hungary) underlined that "the EU needs to promote an open and regular dialogue with churches and religious associations given that only through the promotion of freedom of religion and belief, we can ensure a safer future for our communities".
Mr Karácsony is the CoR rapporteur on combating antisemitism. After a successful adoption in the April SEDEC Commission meeting, the draft opinion will be up for adoption at the CoR plenary session in June.
