The opportunities and challenges faced by the Carpathian macro-region were discussed at the Carpathian conference held in Bucharest, which the President of the Podkarpackie region, Marshal Władysław Ortyl, attended as the CoR rapporteur on A macro-regional strategy for the Carpathian region.
"I am pleased with the activation of entrepreneurs from our regions in support of the Carpathian Strategy and the potential cooperation to economically boost trade in our macro-region. This is the first event of this type where chambers of commerce and industry come together to jointly postulate the creation of the fifth macro-regional strategy of the European Union. In the current situation, this tool would also significantly contribute to the future reconstruction of Ukraine", highlighted Marshal Ortyl.
In response, the president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gennadiy Chyzhykov, declared the support of the Ukrainian government and Ukrainian entrepreneurs for the strategical approach towards various initiatives concerning the Carpathian macro-region.
The conference had a strong economical dimension, with Mihai Daraban - President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ben Butters - General Director of EUROCHAMBRES, Marek Kłoczko - President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Gennadiy Chyzhykov - President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, all in attendance.
