President of the Łódzkie region, Marshal Grzegorz Schreiber, was invited by the CoR's CIVEX commission to present details of the summer camps for Ukrainian children and teenagers organised by his region.
"Last year we hosted 200 children from Ukraine. Their smiles were the most beautiful proof that it is worth helping and supporting them in this difficult time. That is why we extended the invitation, and this year organising the camps again, hosting a total of 400 Ukrainian children" stated Marshal Schreiber.
The children and teenagers, whose families are involved in the fight against the Russian invaders, came from the Odessa, Chernivtsi, Vinnitsa and Volhynia regions. They are all Łódzkie's partner regions in Ukraine, while the links between respective local governments were established long before Russia initiated a full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
The children, who are between 8 and 15 years old, have been accommodated in two dedicated locations in the Łódzkie region, where they are accompanied by their tutors from Ukraine, instructors from Poland and interpreters. Each group's agenda was packed, as there have been numerous sports activities and English lessons scheduled. In addition, there were daily integration activities and excursions to many of Łódzkie's local attractions.
