Conservative local and regional leaders, led by President Marco Marsilio in the ECR Group within the European Committee of the Regions, strongly condemn the recent incidents of violence and vandalism that have occurred in various parts of France which saw city halls and a mayor's family home attacked, hundreds of police and firemen injured, infrastructure damaged as well as significant landmarks vandalized.
We express our firm support for mayors and other local authorities, emergency services including police forces and firefighters who have been on the frontline, working tirelessly to reinstate law and order in the streets of France during these challenging times. Their steadfast commitment and tireless efforts must be recognized and respected.
We vehemently oppose resorting to violence and destruction, which will never be part of the solution. The riots in France represent the dangerous consequences of a failed EU migration policy, demonstrating that only a controlled and legal migration could lead to successful integration. We call for these concerns to be addressed once and for all to ensure a safer environment for all European citizens.
