During the debate on the draft opinion on the Future of Cohesion Policy post-2027, the ECR Group's Vice-President and President of the Bratislava region of Slovak Republic, Juraj Droba, highlighted the importance of "incorporating a robust metropolitan dimension" in the post-2027 cohesion policy, and stressed the importance of "upholding the principles of partnership and multilevel governance", as well as "a higher focus on European Territorial Cooperation".
The Deputy Mayor of Rádlo in Czech Republic and ECR Group Coordinator in the COTER Commission Pavel Branda emphasised the need to "safeguard cohesion policy from being reallocated to emergency instruments".
Finally, Oldřich Vlasák, Councillor in Hradec Králové in Czech Republic and Vice-President of the ECR Group, underlined the need to tailor Cohesion policy to the regions' individual needs," for example by "investing in the digital and other infrastructure, so the recipient regions can become more attractive for people and businesses long-term, thus lowering the territorial and urban-rural divides."
