As COP29 delegate for the ECR Group, President of Bratislava Region Juraj Droba, stressed during the COP 29 debate on how a rapid transition to a green economy can have serious repercussions, especially when it impacts jobs and livelihoods.
The costs of this transition, both economic and social, are already substantial and they will only grow if we do not find ways to mitigate their impact on ordinary citizens. Europe must embrace a "technology neutral approach to decarbonisation" if it wants to be successful, and each country should be "free to choose its own strategy when it comes to reducing emissions", Droba stated.
Last week Mr Droba represented the ECR Group at the COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he welcomed that nuclear energy continued "to gain ground" with six new countries endorsing the declaration signed at last year's COP28 with the goal to triple nuclear energy by 2050.
