War in Ukraine and its challenges for EU cities and regions

The challenges facing today's cities and regions of the European Union as a result of the war in Ukraine were discussed at the 213rd meeting of the Bureau of the Committee of the Regions, which was held in Prague. At 1st of September panel of the Centre for Local Self-Government (CLS) entitled ‘Is Serbia on the right track?’, CoR rapporteur Anna Magyar and other participants agreed that Serbia should become a full member of the EU, but the fight against corruption must be intensified, the work of local authorities improved and participation of citizens in passing and implementing of local decisions increased.

Children who arrived in the Polish region of Łódzkie from partner regions in Ukraine have ended a two-week sports camp at the Central Sports Centre in Spała. The summer camp in Dobieszków has also came to an end, where Ukrainian children who had been living in Poland for several months had come to take a break.

Marshal Ortyl invited to ECR Group meeting in the European Parliament to speak about Ukraine

Our First Vice-President Władysław Ortyl was invited by ECR Members of the European Parliament to speak at their Group meeting on the 5th of July in Strasbourg. The Marshal of the Podkarpackie region spoke to the MEPs about the help that Polish regions have been offering to people fleeing the war in Ukraine, and summarised his presidency of the Group in the CoR, which ended last week.
