President Marsilio at Atreju: regional ownership of investments is crucial

ECR President Marco Marsilio spoke at a high-level panel on Cohesion policy at the Fratelli d'Italia annual event Atreju in Rome. In a panel featuring Tommaso Foti, Italian Minister for European Affairs, Cohesion policy and NRRP, European Parliament Vice-President Antonella Sberna, Luigi Sbarra, Undersecretary of State for Italy's South, and Guido Castelli, Senator and Commissioner for post-earthquake reconstruction, President Marsilio underlined the importance of Cohesion Policy in the framework of the new EU budget proposal.

Single Market is key for EU competitiveness

The ECR Group in the European Committee of the Regions held a panel on the Future of the Single Market today. Moderated by ECR member Lorenzo Galligani, CoR rapporteur on the Single Market, the panel was opened by ECR Group President Marco Marsilio and saw the participation of Jadwiga Emilewicz, Former Polish Deputy Prime Minister Vice-President of the Sobieski Institute; Ilpo Heltimoinen, former CoR member and CoR rapporteur on Strengthening local and regional economic resilience; and Natália Čerňanová, Member of the youth wing of the Freedom and Solidarity party (SaS) from Slovakia in representation of the young conservative.

President Marsilio appointed rapporteur for opinion on boosting Europe's transport system

ECR Group President Marco Marsilio has today been appointed rapporteur for the opinion "Advancing Europe's sustainable and connected transport system – a territorial perspective". Responding to two different European Commission communications, the Sustainable Transport Investment Plan, and Connecting Europe through High-Speed Rail, President Marsilio described the opinion as "strategic for the future of transport in Europe, with a significant focus on the territorial dimension".

Stronger cross-border cooperation with Ukraine and deeper integration of the Carpathian regions

ECR 1st Vice-President Władysław Ortyl chaired on Wednesday the meeting of the CoR Interregional Carpathian Group in Prešov, Slovakia. The gathering was followed by the CIVEX External Seminar on Ukraine’s path to EU integration, a session of the Working Group Ukraine, and a study visit to Uzhhorod, Ukraine. ECR members Pavel Branda, László Őri, Oszkár Seszták and Branislav Zacharides also took part.
