Group president Władysław Ortyl calls for new European Union funds for the refugee crisis

Voices in the debate at the 149th plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels on the war in Ukraine included the president of the ECR Group, Marshal Władysław Ortyl of the Podkarpackie region, which over three million Ukrainian refugees have passed through so far.

Marco Marsilio elected President of ECR CoR Group as of 29 June

In April's ECR CoR Group meeting, traditionally held before each CoR plenary session, members voted unanimously for Marco Marsilio to assume the Presidency of its group. It’s the first time the group will see its most prominent position led by an Italian, coming into effect on 29 June, which marks the half-way of the current CoR mandate.

Local leaders share experiences in organisation of sporting events

The fourth edition of the Study Days of the ECR Group at the European Committee of the Regions took place in Kraków, the capital of Małopolska region, on 8 April, bringing together numerous speakers including Polish Secretary of State Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, Tomasz Poręba MEP, Matteo Bianchi MP, and Michał Langer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Games. The event was hosted by Witold Kozłowski, Marshal of Małopolska region and focused on organisation of financing sport by local and regional governments.
