ECR local and regional leaders in Rome to defend Europe's cultural and natural heritage
|
The ECR Group in the Committee of the Regions (CoR) today held the first ever Summit of Conservative regional and local leaders in Rome to address the crucial role of conservative regions in promoting Europe's cultural identity and preserving its natural heritage. Hosted by the Vice-President of the Lazio Region, Roberta Angelilli, the event featured several high-level speakers, including the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, Nello Musumeci, and Gianmarco Mazzi, Undersecretary of State to the Ministry of Culture, Italy.

The plenary of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has officially adopted the opinion “A Just Transition for all EU regions” led by the rapporteur, ECR CoR President Marco Marsilio, stressing the importance of affirming a technologically neutral approach to the green transition to avoid serious repercussions on Europe’s industry and workers.

Ilpo Heltimoinen: strengthening economic resilience requires attention to regional specificities

In an opinion drafted by Ilpo Heltimoinen, ECON Vice-Chair Heltimoinen and Member of Lappeenranta City Council, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) calls on the new European Commission to take action to strengthen the resilience of regions, as it has a decisive impact on their competitiveness and the functioning of the internal market. The opinion was adopted at the CoR plenary session on 8 October.

Ádám Karácsony: "Tackling the demographic transition should be the priority"

Demographic trends in the EU are increasingly undermining regional competitiveness and growth. In the opinion led by Ádám Karácsony, ECR member and vice-president of the County Council of Pest Megye, regions and cities addressed these pressing challenges during the Committee of the regions’ Plenary session, calling for coordinated regional policies and for targeted fundings.
